Fourth-graders
continues to practice and improve skills in typing and using a mouse, working
to build speed and accuracy. A fourth-grader typically types 15 words per minute. To avoid repetitive stress injuries later
on, they should learn to use the correct hand, wrist and body positions and
the proper techniques for striking the keys. By the
end of the year, they should demonstrate advanced keyboarding skills such as cutting,
copying and pasting to edit their work.
Interactive
Whiteboard. This tool transforms teaching and
changes how students perceive instructional material. It equalizes visual and audio learners. We’ve seen a huge increase
in student participation wherever teachers use the whiteboards. When used with student response systems, teachers get a 100
percent student involvement. Every student is engaged, and the teachers can adjust their teaching on the fly.
A digital camera would enable the teacher to capture images of the student projects, record video
clips and make great visuals for the students and classroom.
The entire classroom can print to one printer
via the connection to the internet, with less expense, while still maintaining quality.
A handheld tablet would
let the teacher roam the entire classroom but provide all the functions of an interactive whiteboard. It’s a whiteboard, remote control mouse and graphics tablet all in one.
